Four arrested in connection with trafficking of Durban girl

Gauteng police have rescued an 18-year-old Durban girl who was allegedly forced into prostitution and given drugs - after being promised a job in Johannesburg.
The details emerged as four of her captors appeared at the Randburg Magistrate's Court on human trafficking charges, today.

Gauteng Police spokesperson, Kay Makhubele, says they were arrested at a house in Randburg on Saturday - after police received a tip-off.
Makhubele says the 18-year-old girl was approached at Durban's south beach by a 22-year-old woman.

"When we arrived, the woman was found. She was taken to a doctor, and later a place of safety. When she arrived here she was introduced to drugs, and used as a prostitute - that is the allegation we got from the people," he said.
