KwaZulu-Natal is officially in mourning. Local government is hosting a prayer today, while flags are flying at half-mast in honour of those who died in the recent floods.
The week of mourning ends on Tuesday.
Co-operative Governance officials are urging families to come forward to identify the bodies of people after last week Monday's storm.
The destruction claimed the lives of 70 people while the damage is estimated to cost over a R1-billion.
MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube says a team has been assisting the affected families.
"We are working with other departments to ensure that communities do get support with the burial. We have also roped in the various local municipalities where the deceased might be coming from. A number of the people that are deceased would not be buried in Durban," she said.
