Updated | By Tamasha Khanyi
Five people have been killed in a horrific crash in Cato Ridge, west of Durban.
Multiple emergency services are at the scene on Eddie Hagen Drive.
"Reports are that a family of six was transporting a critically injured member who’d been assaulted and stabbed to the local clinic when they lost control and left the roadway before colliding with a concrete drain,” says ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson.
"Paramedics found total carnage as they found the vehicle had split in half. Paramedics found all six males sustained major injuries.
"Four were declared deceased on the scene and whilst the paramedics were working on the remaining two, one of the patients went into a state of cardiac arrest.
"Despite emergency services best efforts, the patient also passed away on scene one person was rushed through to hospital with serious injuries."
