According to Fawu's Provincial Secretary in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Enoch Dlomo, they will set out rules and guidelines for a picket involving more than a thousand workers.

"We are meeting with the employer in terms of preparing ourselves for the picket. We need to make sure that everything runs smoothly," he says.

The strike comes after talks between sugar workers and Illovo deadlocked last week.

"We are demanding a 10% wage increase as well as a provident fund for seasonal and full-time workers," he says.

Dlomo says logistical arrangements will be discussed at today's meeting.

"Issues like ablution facilities, areas where they will be picketing, placards, toy-toying will be discussed."
