There's been a decrease in the number of deaths on the N3 between Cedara and Heidelberg in Gauteng - in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same time in 2017.
The N3 Toll Concession's Con Roux says compared to last year, there was an increase in the number of vehicles on the busy route over Easter.
One person was killed over the long weekend - four deaths were recorded last year.

Roux says the accident involved a pedestrian. He says they've seen a 40% drop in fatalities from January to March while pedestrian deaths came down by 50%.
"All of this is also against a background of an increase in traffic in excess of 4% for the first quarter and an increase of over 4% for the Easter weekend itself," he said
