Police in Western Cape are investigating a murder case following the shooting and killing of Tyrone Philander, the younger brother of former Proteas cricket star Vernon Philander.

The 32-year old Tyrone Philander was murdered on the corners of 7th Avenue and Webner Street in Ravensmead on Wednesday afternoon.
Vernon Philander says the family is grateful for messages of support since receiving the news, especially from members of the public.
"Our family is coming to terms with the brutal murder in my hometown of Ravensmead earlier today.
I would like to ask that the family's privacy be respected during this difficult time," says Philander.
He has also called on the public and media to give police the necessary space to investigate the fatal shooting.
"There are no details around the incident at the moment and speculation will make it very difficult for us as a family to mourn in peace.
"Tyrone is forever in our hearts," adds Philander.
I would like to confirm the following and wish that our family's wish to allow us to mourn be respected. Thank you all for the love and support🙏 https://t.co/ciyEt8VYLT
