Family says justice served in KwaDukuza woman's murder
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
The mother of a KwaDukuza woman whose boyfriend was yesterday sentenced to life in prison for her murder believes justice has been served.
In November 2016, Niresh Singh doused Trisha Naidoo with petrol and set her alight. She suffered burns to 80 percent of her body and died in hospital two days later.
At trial, Singh maintained Naidoo had killed herself - but the court rejected his version. Naidoo's mother, Cynthia attended the sentencing proceedings at the Durban High Court yesterday. She says she's grateful to the investigations team.
"We worked very hard. He always placed the blame on my daughter because she couldn't defend her," Singh said.

She says the family is still struggling to come to terms with Naidoo's death.
"It's very difficult. My grandson is always talking - and asks questions that I can't give answers to," she said.
