Family lose everything in Isipingo house fire

Fire fighters say a blaze that ripped through an Isipingo Rail property, south of Durban destroyed almost everything in the family home.

eThekwini Fire's Justin Bateman says the three bedroom house was engulfed in flames when they arrived on Samsunder Road yesterday.

A woman who lived there with two other family members managed to escape without harm and get her two dogs out.

Bateman says at this stage, they believe an electrical fault may have sparked the blaze.

He says it took about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire and another 20 minutes to completely dampen down the area.

Four vehicles were at the scene, including two rescue pumpers, a water carrier and a divisional commands vehicle.

"Unfortunately we were unable to salvage much," said Bateman.
