Family assaulted, robbed on farm near Estcourt
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Communities in Estcourt have been left reeling after a family was handcuffed, assaulted and robbed on their farm this week.
John, Malcom and Doreen Moor were held at gunpoint and locked in a room by two robbers, who attacked them in their home on Monday night.
There were power cuts in the area at the time due to load shedding.
The armed pair ransacked the home before making off with various items.
Alf Lees, is the Constituency Head for the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Uthukela.
"Fortunately, whilst they were assaulted, they were not killed. They were robbed of firearms and jewellery and then they were able to raise the alarm.
"The attack on the moors farm took place during load shedding and during that time there were cellphone connections which were not operating and so that in itself make situations more vulnerable to rural communities."
Estcourt police are investigating.
