Failed matrics: 'No exam is worth your life'

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadeg), says it is important for matric students who did not do as well as they had hoped, not to dwell on negative results but to focus on the options available.

Over 10 000 matrics who sat down for the IEB exams received their results this morning.

This year's 98.30% pass rate is slightly lower than last year's 98.38%.

Sadag Spokesperson Janine Shamos says their helpline operates seven days a week.

''Sit down with somebody and express how you're feeling. You're allowed to feel down, you're allowed to feel disappointed but it is important that you then move forward. Start making plans that will move you forward to where you want to go.

''An exam is important, matric is important but it's not a life or death decision so look at your options,'' she said.
