eThekwini's biggest post office branch to open
The South African Post Office says its gearing up to have eThekwini's biggest branch open later this week.
Durmail, with over 500 employees, was closed last week after its state-of-readiness to provide services and workplace safety was questioned by the Communication Workers Union.
Out of 218 KwaZulu-Natal branches - 207 were fully operational as of Tuesday.
Regional Operations Manager, Martin Coetsee says they are in the process of attending to issues faced by this branch.
"All staff has been issued with PPEs. In terms of Durmail, it is a very old building, and therefore we do sit with maintenance issues. We did have an inspection by the Department of Labour - there were certain issues identified.
"We had a meeting with organised labour to see to the solutions, and we are more confident that by the end of this week it will be fully operational."
