eThekwini has planned a series of community meetings around the city from next week to allow residents to scrutinise and comment on the municipal Draft Annual Report for 2016/17.

The report can be accessed on eThekwini's website, at Sizakala Centres and Libraries.

During a full council sitting yesterday - Mayor, Zandile Gumede said it was important for residents to know what is happening in their area.

Ward 36 Councillor Shaun Ryley agrees and says the community engagements provide an opportunity for people to have their say.

"If residents feel that the city is not delivering on its mandate and the services that they are expected to - then they should use this chance to engage with those officials and make their concerns known. It's a vital part of consultative government," he says.
