eThekwini Municipality says it's put together a team of contractors to intervene after severe storms battered Durban and surrounding areas this week.
More than 80 families have been affected by the severe storms on Wednesday night. eThekwini Municipality Speaker, Thabani Nyawose, lead a delegation to Ntuzuma’s Ward 44 to inspect homes and infrastructure that were damaged by the storm.
Nyawose says a number of homes had also collapsed completely while some suffered partial collapse.
"We are already trying to intervene and put together a team of contractors to assist where there is an urgent need", he said.
"We are inviting our contractors to come through and assist affected families. For some families we will be providing them with materials so they speed up rebuilding efforts", Nyawose said.
