eThekwini works to solve bus protest
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
EThekwini Municipality is appealing to bus drivers to be patient while it verifies their account details.
Mayor James Nxumalo says their December salaries and bonuses will be paid once the details have been verified against their names.
Angry bus drivers protested yesterday, blocking parts of the N3 and N2 freeways heading into Durban.
Metro Police say it took some time to remove all the vehicles as some had been tampered with. Metro's Steve Middleton says all of the buses were removed by 5pm yesterday.
"We got wind of a group of bus drivers driving along the N2 in a very slow manner. Today, we deployed Metro Police to the scene and took the N3 turnoff into town," he said.
