Eskom dismiss loadshedding claims, says its maintenance
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Eskom has dismissed claims made by the DA saying there is no planned loadshedding in the coming months.
This comes after the DA claimed loadshedding might make an unwelcome
return before the end of September.
On Thursday, Eskom said in a statement that it will keep customers informed if there are any changes to the system.

"Eskom communicated its summer plan on the 4th September 2019 at a media briefing held at Megawatt Park, where we indicated that while no loadshedding is expected over summer the risk however remains as the system is still tight and vulnerable, as we ramp up plant maintenance."
“Eskom would like to assure its customers that there is no planned load shedding expected in September or October as indicated by the Democratic Alliance statement issued later today. We have not communicated to any stakeholder that there will be loadshedding.”

The opposition party says it's received information that Eskom is already engaging with municipalities across the country about possible loadshedding in September and October.
The DA's Shadow Minister of Public Enterprises Natasha Mazzone said: “In the interests of transparency and informing the people of South Africa and businesses, DA has written to Eskom Chairperson, Mr Jabu Mabuza, to seek clarity about the potential rolling blackouts”.
