Elderly woman stabbed to death in Phoenix home
Updated | By Andile Tsotetsi
A murder case is being investigated after an elderly woman was killed in her home in Phoenix, north of Durban.

It's understood that an intruder with a knife attacked the pensioner, believed to have been in her 80s, and her 60-year-old daughter at the property in Hexham on Monday night.
The younger woman is said to be in a critical condition in the hospital.
They were found by a man believed to be the daughter's husband, who forced entry into the home after getting no response.

Reaction Unit South Africa says neighbours alerted authorities after hearing a man calling for help.
" When officers got to the scene, they found a large crowd had gathered outside the home.
"They then penetrated the home and found a female line in a passage, and a large knife was found beside her. She was stabilised on scene and expedited to a local hospital," says Reaction Unit South Africa's Prem Balram.
"A second female, believed to be 80 years old, was found near the bedroom door. She was declared deceased by paramedics. She had suffered extensive stab wounds to her body."
