Elderly woman in hospital after 140m fall
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
An elderly woman is receiving treatment after falling down a steep embankment near Margate on the south coast yesterday afternoon.
The woman had been walking along a path near an informal settlement at around 4.30pm when she slipped and fell about 140-metres.
Netcare911's Chris Botha says a specialise rescue system was used.
"The paramedics were unable to get to her and they called the specialised SAP Search and Rescue Unit from Port Shepstone. Once they retrieved the patient, we found that she sustained serious injuries.
"Paramedics treated her on scene and transported her to a hospital in Port Shepstone for further treatment," he said.
