Elderly man shot, critically injured in Bluff home robbery

A Durban pensioner is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot during robbery at his home.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says paramedics rushed to the man's home on the Bluff, south of Durban early this morning.
"Rescue Care paramedics arrived on scene at the Allison Road home to find a man in his 70s who had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper chest. He was stabilised on scene by advance life support paramedics before being rushed to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required," Jamieson said

Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says they are investigating cases attempted murder and house robbery.
"The wife heard a noise and when she went out to check, she noticed that there was someone in the house. She then alerted other people. The suspect fled the scene and when she checked for her husband, she noticed that he was shot," Zwane said.
