Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Flights between Durban and London have officially taken off.
The first British Airways direct flight from London to King Shaka International took to the skies yesterday - landing in KwaZulu-Natal this morning.
The new route is expected to boost business and leisure travel between the two cities.
KZN MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs - Sihle Zikalala announced the new route at Africa's Travel Indaba at the Durban ICC in May.
Zikalala said at the time that he is hopeful the new route will strengthen the relationship between Durban, the UK and the rest of Europe.
