A group of more than 1000 people have marched from Gugu Dlamini Park in the Durban city centre to Stanger Street opposite the International Convention Centre, demanding a rerun of the ANC's Provincial Elective Conference over a week ago in Pietermaritzburg.

Sihle Zikalala was chosen over Senzo Mchunu as Provincial Chair.

Members from all 11 regions in the province have gathered to express their frustration over the conference.

Gesturing the sign for change, those in the crowd allege there were a number of irregularities in the voting process.

They claim credentials were not verified and that some branches were audited but left out while those that were unaudited were included.

There are also allegations a tweet listing the results of the conference was posted online while voting was still underway, with the same tweeted results announced the following day confirming Sihle Zikalala as the new Provincial Chairman.

ANC NEC member, Joe Phaahla has come out to receive their memorandum, but members have dismissed him, saying they are waiting for ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe.
