Durban man demands justice for mom
Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
A Durban man says there has been no justice for his late mother, nearly two years after she was struck by a truck.
Cato Manor resident, Dropathy Demrugaram, and a friend were walking to senior citizen meeting in Bonela, when the incident happened.
In CCTV footage sent to Newswatch the elderly women can be seen walking on the side of a residential road.
Moments later, the 74-year-old appears to lose her balance and is hit by a truck.
Her son, Sunjith Bithan, says his friend came to tell him the news.
"He ran up my driveway crying and when I asked him what happened he didn't want to tell me what happened. He told me to come with him, I jumped into his car and when I came up the road I saw my mom on the floor dead."

Bithan, says the family has been left shattered.
"It affected our lives terribly. My mom used to look after my kids, it has caused family friction. Even the owners had no remorse."
KZN police have confirmed that a case of culpable homicide is still under investigation.
However, Bithan claims police have dragged their feet, with no arrest made in the 21 months since the incident.
"The owners need to be charged for culpable homicide."
