Durban elderly woman crashes car into wall
Updated | By Athi Tutshana
A 78-year-old woman is lucky to have escaped with minor injuries after she crashed into a wall in Umgeni Park, north of Durban.
Crisis Medical says it appears the elderly woman accidentally hit the accelerator pedal instead of the brakes.
Bystanders had to move the car in order to free her.
And in another accident in the Durban CBD, a woman has been seriously hurt after she lost control of her car and crashed into a palm tree on Smith Street.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says the woman was trapped in her car on their arrival.
"Durban Fire Department were called to assist and the jaws of life were used to cut her free from the wreckage. Once she had been cut free from the wreckage, she was carefully extricated by Rescue Care paramedics before being transported to a nearby facility for the further care that she required," he said.
