The murder charge relates to the death of Chatsworth man Reagan Naidoo.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) says Naidoo was assaulted three years ago while in police custody and died later.

It was claimed at the time that he died after choking on a pie.

But the police watchdog says investigations revealed he lost his life as a result of police action.

Naidoo had been accused of being in possession of an illegal firearm that was apparently linked to a murder case.

Ten other officers were arrested last week and appeared in court on Thursday.

The group also faces charges of kidnapping, assault, torture and defeating the ends of justice.

Ipid spokesperson Grace Langa said: "IPID is going to arrest more suspects, five in fact. Then, all in all, they will have to appear on the 29th of October together."
