Durban beaches reopened, waters deemed 'pollution-free'

The eThekwini Municipality has reopened Durban's northern beaches after water quality tests were conducted.

 They've been deemed safe for swimming, fishing and surfing. 


The North, Bay, Battery, Country Club 1 & 2, eThekwini and Laguna beaches were temporarily closed - after concerns were raised about a discharge of very abnormal, murky water from uMngeni River.

City officials say the test results showed that the water is free of pollution that may pose a threat to life.
