A 40-year-old suspected drug dealer is due in court soon after he was arrested by Pietermarizburg police yesterday.
Mountain Rise police received information about the dealing of CAT and crack cocaine in the Woodlands residential area.
After identifying a suspect, they surveyed the premises before raiding the property last night.
Officers recovered a range of drugs as well as utensils used for manufacturing and about R60 000 in cash.
The drugs are said to have an estimated street value of R500 000.
Meanwhile, Tongaat police are searching for a group of suspects who opened fire on officers while they were conducting an intelligence operation yesterday.
Members spotted a car with four occupants and gave chase.
As the suspects sped off, they opened fire on police before abandoning their vehicle at Magwaveni and fleeing on foot.
