Drop in road fatalities shows improving driver behaviour: AA
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
The Automobile Association of South Africa believes drivers are becoming more obedient on the road and respecting the law.
The AA's Layton Beard has been commenting after the Transport Department announced an 11% decrease in the number of road fatalities over the festive season compared to the 2016/2017 period.
"There is a reduction in the number of people who are stopped and fined for speeding and driving and that certainly does indicate a change of behaviour amongst motorists. This is encouraging and promising," he says.

Beard believes the use of metred taxis could also be helping reduce accidents.
"Many people realise that there are other services available that can get them home safely and that they don't have to drive themselves home after a night out. That's something that needs to be encouraged as well," he says.
