Dozens arrested in Pietermaritzburg business raid
In the second operation in as many months, officers were checking whether businesses were compliant.
Dozens of undocumented foreign nationals were arrested following another law enforcement raid on businesses in Pietermaritzburg.
Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli led a multidisciplinary law enforcement operation in the city centre on Tuesday.
Officers were checking if businesses in the provincial capital are compliant, in the second operation in as many months.
Premier vows to expand crackdown
Ntuli says this is a war they are taking to all 54 municipalities in the province.
" Municipalities, the mayors in various municipalities, I've engaged them,” said Ntuli.
"I will be talking to them on Friday about the very same concept because I want to declare [September] as a month wherein each and every police station and each municipality [and] Home Affairs office [is] up and running [to] ensure that we resolve this problem."
