Doctors turned away for COVID-19 jabs but Health MEC begs for patience
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
KZN’s Health MEC is asking doctors to be a little bit patient about getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
It's been reported a number of GPs headed to the province's vaccine sites in Durban over the weekend – with the hope of getting a jab.
It’s understood they joined long queues at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial and Inkosi Albert Luthuli hospitals - but were apparently turned away.
MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu says vaccines have been allocated to all areas.

She’s assured them that no frontline healthcare worker will be left out. "We had to indicate that the vaccine that has been received is meant for healthcare workers in that catchment area in Prince Mshiyeni Memorial and Inkosi Albert Luthuli hospitals."
She says all health workers in that area would be vaccinated and this also includes the GPs.
