Desmond Tutu discharged from hospital
Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was discharged from a Cape Town hospital earlier today.
The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation has confirmed in a statement on its website.
"His daughter, Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu said her father wished to say a special thank you to the hospital staff who had cared for him and his wonderfully talented and generous medical team," it says.
The 83-year-old had been in and out of hospital since July for intensive antibiotic treatment for an infection and related complications.
"The Reverend Canon Tutu added the love, prayers and good wishes expressed by people around the world had been just as important as the medical attention in aiding the Arch’s recovery," the foundation said.
