The death toll in Monday evening's horror bus crash in the Eastern Cape has risen to 30.
The long-distance passenger bus was travelling from Cape Town to Mthatha, with some 50 people on board, when the driver is believed to have lost control.
It plunged down a steep embankment next to the N2 between Butterworth and East London.
The Eastern Cape Department of Transport’s Unathi Binqose says two more bodies have been discovered.
“That is according to the information we are getting from the forensic pathologists who were performing postmodern on the bodies. They say upon opening of the body bags they realised there was more than just one, a common mistake which they say happens when they are clearing the scene particularly under the cover of darkness.
“It is something that is regrettable and something that the province of the Eastern Cape doesn’t want to see happening again.”
