On Wednesday, Randall Williams of the Democratic Alliance (DA) was elected unopposed as the mayor of Tshwane.

Before that, the DA's Katlego Mathebe was also elected unopposed as Speaker.

The ANC was also ousted from power in Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg when the DA's mayoral candidates won the vote, with the surprise support of the EFF.

Things also didn't go the ANC's way on Gauteng's West Rand Wednesday afternoon.

The DA's Tyrone Gray was elected mayor, while the Speaker position went to the DA's Jacqui Pannall.

On Wednesday attention will turn to eThekwini, whose councillors are expected to return to Moses Mabhida Stadium to resume the election of office-bearers.

The meeting began on Monday, but it was marred by chaos.
