DA to stay in GNU but calls for ‘power sharing’
Updated | By AFP
DA leader John Steenhuisen says the party
remains committed to the Government of National Unity, but coalition partners
must be consistent in working together.

The future of the coalition government's been a topic of discussion, particularly after non-GNU members backed the ANC in passing the national budget in Parliament on Wednesday.
The DA withdrew its support due to the controversial half-percentage point VAT increase.
Steenhuisen says the party will remain on board to focus on economic growth and job creation.
He was speaking at a DA campaign in Phoenix yesterday ahead of by-elections in eThekwini's ward 110.
"We don't seek to dominate government. The Government of National Unity is not a continuation of the sixth administration. It is a new government, a government that reflects the will of the people.
“Now, let me be very clear. We are committed to the Government of National Unity, but it then has to become a genuine power sharing relationship."
