Penny Sparrow leaves the DA
Updated | By Zongile Nhlapho
Penny Sparrow is no longer a member of the Democratic Alliance.
The former Scottburgh estate agent was suspended by the party after she referred to Durban's black beachgoers as monkeys in a Facebook post on the weekend of New Year's.
The party's provincial leader Zwakele Mncwango says a disciplinary process was due to take place after the suspension but Sparrow this morning indicated she's liked to resign from the DA.

Mncwango says they welcome the resignation as there is no place for racists in the DA.
"In her own admission, her statement insulted a lot of people and caused a lot of anger and put our party into disrepute," he said.
