Ngubane's resignation will not exonerate him: DA
Updated | By MorneJK
The Democratic Alliance (DA) believes Ben Ngubane still has a lot to answer for, despite his late-night resignation as the chairperson of the Eskom board.
According to the DA, Ngubane's resignation comes hot on the heels of damning revelations of the capture of Eskom leadership by the Gupta family and the breakdown of corporate governance at the power utility.
"Mr Ngubane, who presided over the retrenchment, retirement and rehire of Brian Molefe as Eskom CEO has much to answer for, not least of which includes Molefe’s R30 million golden handshake," the DA's Natasha Mazzone says.

Ngubane also faces accusations related to his dealings with the Gupta family over the past few years.
She adds that the resignation will not exonerate him from liability for the breakdown of governance at Eskom.
"We will use the Parliamentary inquiry into Eskom, set to commence on 21 June, to hold Ngubane to account," she says.
