eThekwini on Tuesday said its electrical infrastructure has not yet been repaired to pre-flood levels, but stressed there was a dire need to reduce the load to protect the national grid.
The DA's Thabani Mthethwa says the municipality has not prioritised repairs.
"We knew this was coming and we warned to say let us allocate this R200 million to fixing electricity structures, but instead, the ANC decided to allocate this money to EPWP because the ANC we obsessed with the comrades."
