Cosatu to lead nation-wide marches over job losses
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Cosatu has confirmed that they'll lead a mass nationwide protest over job cuts.
The trade union federation will hold marches on the 13th of this month - across all nine provinces.
The organisation's Sizwe Pamla says the rate at which jobs are being lost in the public and private sectors is worrying.
"If you look at the private sector, it's a bloodbath. If you look at the mining sector, the services industry - it's [affecting] a number of sectors. Standard Bank is getting rid of IT technicians. The retrenchments we are seeing are not just about ill-qualified and unskilled workers.
"There's a report that came out that shows [peers] are leaving South Africa because the economy is shrinking in such a way that most of them are facing unemployment," Pamla said.
