Congregants march in support of controversial Durban pastor

Hundreds of supporters of a Durban-based Nigerian pastor are marching through the Durban CBD proclaiming his innocence.

Pastor
Jarryd Subroyen

The church leader made headlines earlier this year when allegations of sexual exploitation and human trafficking were levelled against him.

Those taking part in the march are mainly members of the pastor's Jesus Dominion International Church based in Durban.

Supporters are holding placards reading 'set our leader free' and 'innocent unless proven guilty.

Dozens of women and girls, some as young as 14, claimed the pastor abused his position for sexual purposes.

The 58-year-old was arrested by the Hawks in April at the Port Elizabeth Airport.

He faces 22 charges related to sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

He's due in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court again later this month for a second bail application.
