Commonwealth: Durban gets thumbs up from delegation

The Durban Bid Committee for the 2022 Commonwealth Games says the city stands a good chance of hosting the games.

A third and final delegation from the Americas and the Caribbean is currently in the city to inspect the proposed venues for the event.

Earlier this week, the Games' Federation Evaluation Committee recommended that its General Assembly vote in favour of Durban as host city.

Chairperson of the Bid Committee, Mark Alexander says he thinks they do meet all requirements to host.

"They were quite impressed about some of our stunning facilities we have available currently and operational. So, I think it went well. It's a process. We'll have to wait for September 2, when the management will vote in favour of or reject our proposal, but thus far I've never heard a negative comment," he said.
