"Clash with DA supporters was not intended": ANCYL
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The ANC Youth League in KZN insists it was not their intention to clash with DA supporters when the two parties marched at around the same time in Durban yesterday in close proximity to each other.
A DA-led march moved from the old circus site towards the north beach amphitheatre while the ANC Youth League led a protest to ABSA bank in the CBD.
But, some ANC Youth League marchers ended up in the north beach area where they attacked some DA supporters who had just left their march - prompting police to intervene.

The league's Thanduxolo Sabelo says they were merely exercising their own right to march to areas where they were not restricted from.
"We were, in fact, not confronting the DA. We were marching as peaceful demonstrators in line with a court's order that people may be allowed to march peacefully. Therefore it was not an illegal gathering also," he said.
While commenting on the incident, the DA says they will be laying charges against the ANC, for what they've called an incitement of violence.
