Children among injured in Umgeni Road bus crash
Updated | By Natarah Nadesan
Dozens of people have been hurt in a double vehicle crash involving Durban Transport busses on uMgeni Road this morning.

"On arrival, paramedics found absolute chaos. The buses collided in a rear-end collision and approximately 45 people suffered various injuries. They were transported through to Durban hospitals," said Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson.
Jamieson says some children were also hurt. A number of emergency crews responded, including firefighters who are still busy cleaning up an oil spill from the crash on the Durban-bound route - just after Connaught Bridge.
He says medics saw some frightened bus passengers jumping out of the windows when they arrived at the scene.
"When at first paramedics arrived, they witnessed the incident and tried to assist the passengers out and, out of total fear, people were just trying to escape further harm. They got harmed more by trying to jump out of the window instead of waiting for the doors to be opened," he said.
