Provincial Social Development MEC Mbali Shinga visited the Aryan Benevolent Home on Tuesday.

It is after reports that children at the ABH had been assaulted emerged.

Shinga ordered an investigation into the allegations and said a report on its findings will be presented in three weeks.

It was confirmed that the implicated care workers were subjected to a disciplinary hearing by the home's board and have since been expelled.

"Such incidents not only diminish a child's worth and self-esteem but also damage their trust in the very institutions that were meant to protect them. We definitely support efforts to uphold the high standards of care and safety for all our children in residential facilities," says Childline KZN's Adeshini Naicker.
