Case of public violence opened following Cato Manor protest

A municipal bus has been set alight by protesters in Cato Manor.
The protest action is believed to have started after shacks were demolished by authorities.
The area has been on edge for the past few weeks with unrest breaking out following alleged land grabs.

The police's Thulani Zwane says police officers are on the scene.
"A bus belonging to the eThekwini Municipality was set alight by the angry community members of Bonela. It is believed that the community members are upset about their shacks being demolished by the municipality," he says.
He says a case of public violence and malicious damage to property has been opened.
