Body of Mtubatuba teen found near soccer field
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo
As pupils return to school on Monday after a one-week break, one 13-year-old will not be at his desk.
Cebo Dlamini from Ophondweni in Mtubatuba was found dead on Thursday.
His family is seeking answers about his death.
Cebo’s uncle, Sibongiseni Dlamini, has told Newswatch they last saw him watching a movie at a nearby house in their homestead.
“They usually watch movies together. They sit on their phones and watch movies. And sometimes we even leave them but the day, his brother, his aunt and sister left him and went to sleep and then. On Thursday morning, his sister knocked in my door and asked me if I have seen Cebo and I said no."
Dlamini says hours passed and the family and community members finally found his body next to a soccer field near the river.

Dlamini says the mother, who lives in Gauteng, rushed home to Mtubatuba - adding that she’s heartbroken.
He says it will take time for the family to heal but hopes the police will give them answers.
“It’s going to be hard when we see his school transport passing by the gate every morning. Even the kids who went to school with him are shocked. I don’t even want to talk about how his mother is feeling. We have a lot of questions as a family because he was so young.”
Police in KwaMsane say a murder investigation is underway.
