Black Industrialist Programme launched in Durban
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Government is stepping up its efforts in the economic emancipation of black South Africans.
That's what KZN MEC for Economic Development Sihle Zikalala has told the launch of the Black Industrialist Programme in Durban today.
"We would want to ensure that the Black Industrialist Programme covers all blacms but also focuses on all Africans. We're saying this because we are all oppressed but the level of oppression was more severe to Africans," he said.
Meanwhile, Trade and Industry Minister, Rob Davies, says government is moving full steam ahead with ensuring that black-owned manufacturing businesses are no longer small players in industry.
"first of all you have to operate in the space of manufacturing, secondly we want to make sure that you are actually as a black person involved in leadership in that company. We do not want to be encouraging a lot of white companies to come along for additional funding by way of fronting," he said.
