Basic Education opens positions for unemployed youth

The Basic Education Department has opened applications to fill over 280 000 vacancies for young people.
It's looking to employ education assistants and general school assistants as part of phase 2 of the Basic Education Employment Initiative.
The department says successful applicants will be placed in schools for five months, from 1 November to 31 March 2022 and will receive training.
Spokesperson Terence Khala says there is some criteria.
"Youth between the ages of 18 and 35, who are currently neither in education, training, nor receiving any form of government grant, as well as young people with disability and women, are eligible and encouraged to apply for this enriching experience.
"Candidates who are selected for placement, will have an opportunity to receive training on various skills that will equip them for future employment opportunities."
The deadlines for applications is the 3rd of October.
