Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Police are trying to trace the family of a two-week-old baby boy - who's been found abandoned in an unoccupied house in Maphumulo on KwaZulu-Natal's north coast.
It's not yet clear how long the infant had been alone in the house for.
The child is in the care of authorities.
The police's Thulani Zwane says the house is situated along the R74.
"This baby was found by someone who was walking past and he alerted the police. A case of child negligence was opened at KwaMaphumulo police station for further investigation. The case is being investigated by our detectives from the family violence and child protection unit," Zwane said.
