ANC slams Zuma Must Fall march

The ANC's labelled the nation-wide Zuma Must Fall marches that were held yesterday racist and hypocritical.

This after thousands of protestors took to the streets across major cities in the country, calling for the President to step down.

About 1 500 people marched across the Nelson Mandela bridge in Johannesburg, while thousands more gathered in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and George, all saying they'd lost faith in President Jacob Zuma's leadership.

Zuma faced a backlash after he announced last week he was replacing former Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene with ANC MP David van Rooyen, causing the rand to reach a record low.

Four days later, van Rooyen was replaced by former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.

The ANC says poor attendance in all the marches indicates that the majority of South Africans generally accepted Zuma's decision with Pravin.

Meanwhile, the hashtag #ZumaMustFallMarch which trended all of yesterday, is still amongst the top trends on Twitter this morning.
