Alleged cop killers' case postponed
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The case against the three men who are accused of murdering a policeman in Inanda, north of Durban on Tuesday has been postponed to next week in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court.
The three, aged between 18 and 26, are alleged to have kidnapped, stripped and shot at sergeant Vusi Moyana and officer Jabu Jojisa at the Namibia informal settlement.
The pair had been in the area to serve a protection order. Their service pistols were also stolen.
Jojisa was wounded in the incident.
The natural light beaming through the windows of a boardroom in the court house provided the only available space for Sabelo Mkhize, Siboniso Khubisa and Lindokuhle Mchunu to appear as there was an electricity outage in court.
The three stood heads bowed in front of a classroom-like setup with the backs to the roughly 40 members of the public and journalists seated at their desks.
All three face two charges of kidnapping, two of robbery, one of murder, attempted murder and possession of prohibited firearms.
The State has indicated that it is opposed to bail, informing Magistrate Sphamandla Mchunu that accused two and three have pending cases of murder and the offences they face presently were committed while they were on bail.
