Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
eThekwini officials say they will make sure the beaches are adequately manned - especially going into the busy festive season.
This after reports municipal lifeguards have been a go-slow, apparently over outstanding backpay due to them dating back to 2007.
eThekwini's Head of Parks and Recreation, Thembinkosi Ngcobo says the city is sorting out the issue.
He says his office wasn't notified about a go-slow.
"We are not worried that there won't be services provided because of what is seen to be a go-slow. We as management are not aware of any go-slow, and therefore we should be promising more than enough services," he said.
He says they're ready for what they're expecting to be a bumper December.
"We are expecting just more than two million people throughout the festive season - on all our shores and within our city. We have made enough provisions fore relevant personnel on the beach, including the lifeguards," Ngcobo said.
