Airlink hands over passenger manifest after hantavirus-linked death in SA

Airlink says it has handed over the flight manifest to the World Health Organization and South African officials after one of its passengers, a Dutch woman who was on a hantavirus-stricken cruise ship, died in South Africa.
Her husband died on the ship.
She flew with Airlink from St Helena to OR Tambo International Airport, where she was due to catch a connecting flight home to the Netherlands.
The woman collapsed at OR Tambo International and later died at a nearby medical facility.
In a statement on Thursday, Airlink said there were 82 passengers and six crew members on board the flight from St Helena on April 25.
Hantavirus exposure tracking
The airline says it was unaware at the time that any passengers were unwell.
Once it was notified, the airline provided the Department of Health with the names, contact details and seating allocations of the passengers and crew.
Since the outbreak of hantavirus, three people have died. A British man who was on the cruise ship is being treated in Johannesburg.

Authorities are still tracing those who may have come into contact with the two confirmed cases that who made their way to South African shores.
Airlink has advised passengers who were on flight 4Z 132 to contact the Health Department.
